Background:
Null was born into a minor noble house of the Chiss Ascendency. Although a member of a very wealthy and educated family, Null choose to enroll in the Chiss military academy; more to follow in the steps of his older sister Sev'rance than because of any sense of patriotism or duty. Although Null did not share his sister's ruthless nature for battlefield command, he proved invaluable as an adjutant and information gatherer. This lead to his reassignment to Intelligence, were he learned to use information and stealth to win seemingly unwinnable battles.
Despite receiving high marks and honors at graduation, Null ended up stationed at remote listening outposts and monitoring stations for the duration of what became a short military career. After years of isolation, unable to so much as get a personal message out, he returned to a family that resented his choice of military service over the family business. Even more distressing was the mysterious disappearance of Sev'rance on a mission to the galactic core. With his family all but disowning him, having lost contact with all of his academy friends and acquaintances during his imposed hiatus, yet having spent the majority of his life perfecting the skills needed to find his sister, the choice to leave Csilla and Ascendency space came easy.
